I don’t know what it is about people from Scotland but they definitely are a bit more patriotic than most my name is Chris the problem Duncan I’m in the lightweight Division and I’m from Scotland my nickname is the problem because I’ve always had problems throughout my full career my mother passed away the day of the weigh-ins to my first amateur MMA competition and this is my mom’s a fingerprint who passed away and then my daughter’s fingerprint here I’ve got new new baby so and in conjunction you know they’re all together and it keeps me strong I originally fought in season five of Dana White’s Contender series my ego got the better of me and I wanted to go in there and put on a show unfortunately I lost from that loss I learned so much about myself this time around the contender series I’m going to show everybody what I’m capable of and my full skill set s my name is Adam Stevenson and I’m the head coach at evil gym Baseline it works harder Chris is definitely ready for tonight he’s on he’s on the right frame my mind and he’s a good place so we’re going to see the best version of Chris donkey tonight [Music] here the staff members from the UFC counting down five four three two one and that moment I’m very nervous the kind of anxiety that the fighting brings and I’m a member of a coach took me aside and put his hand on my neck and said if it gets tough and you get knocked down rip out away from and make it yours and that immediately brought you that inner Beast as soon as those doors open and I see the cage take my mom’s chain off my neck and then I’m ready to go that’s that’s me setting Stone fight one and everything goes silent I feel like I’m in my element I get hit with a nice heavy right hand so that soon puts a stop onto that Duncan knocked down I went down and I got right back up so then I was proceeded to wait my eye because I couldn’t see I was seeing double [Music] and an open shot for Charlie Campbell oh this could be it in my head I said this can’t be happening again and Charlie landed some great uppercuts and dropped me down again down goes Duncan I remember standing up and put my hand on the fence and then I threw a one two and then it was good night from him [Applause] right after The Knockout I remember thinking to myself thank God that’s over there was a lot of pressure involved obviously due to my last loss Chris Duncan welcome to the UFC for the winner by knocked out in that moment I felt like the world was like at my feet and I know that this fight is not just about you it’s about representing your mom it’s about writing on the small yeah for sure you know I fight for uh my girlfriend Laura and my baby summer I miss you guys I can’t wait to get home and see you tomorrow I love you Lords okay okay that was for you guys okay Chris Duncan from a small village in the Scottish Highlands to the doorstep of the UFC Dana White making his decisions there’s two things that I’m gonna say about Duncan he was a two to one dog and wow get over here man you’re in the UFC I know you’ve thought about this moment for a long time how soon can we see you in that octagon in the lightweight Division I think I just got a 30-day suspension so anytime after that anytime after 30 days yeah I’m looking forward to getting back in there you know that’s the first time I’ve uh training full time for a fight you just put the lightweight division on notice congratulations cannot officially hearing that I was then signed to the UFC was a dream come true UFC baby hahaha putting something out like that it’s never nice but that’s my build for um and you know I knew that was going to secure me my contract amazing made a bit of a ass about the start but what can we do it doesn’t matter I started hearing Michael say that how well I’ve done was was great I’ll remember that forever Sensational can’t wait for you next one Contender series means so much to me because it was my apprenticeship for the UFC awesome man that’s it thank you very much congratulations I had a great night and I was desperate to get home because I’d spent that much time away from my home outstanding job sir thank you I’m from Sterling Scotland Sterling it’s where William Wallace was prayed to Scotland he fought many battles for Scotland so it’s um a lovely city to be be involved with I live in a place called alawa lovely town with my girlfriend and my daughter [Music] [Laughter] [Music] she is a massive part of my career and obviously she’s given me there the greatest gift in life is my daughter [Music] how are you okay [Music] oh well done that was absolutely yep every minute of it he’s got a lot of determination to know but Christopher has always given everything he does 110 it’s just brilliant just amazing I don’t think anyone could ever comprehend what he goes through to to get to this stage well hello there oh so celebrating when I got home was fantastic it was amazing and everybody congratulated me I’m so happy for me thank you so the gym in Scotland is called evil gym we train that they are Monday through Saturday lovely gym I didn’t realize how many people had my back my coach means the world to me he’s been here since day one this is obviously not just my student with my friend so and I think it’s good for him makes me happy I’m over the moon for the gym myself it’s very glad I found it’s [Music] the support and the teammates I have from Evo gym is like a family such a good bunch of guys I’m just a guy a local guy that works hard and anybody can achieve that when my mom died I said to my gran I was like what I do now I do a fight and she’s like of course you’re going to fight your mom wanted like you to fight anyway after my mom died I almost had almost an epiphany I wanted to do something that I wanted to do because life can be stripped away from you within an instant that was the main reason why I moved into the gym and got into MMA out of something bad has now came something good do you feel like she’s with you yeah foreign yeah I do believe my mother’s with me at all times that’s why I hold our super ghost in my heart she’s always going to be there and I see a little bit of summer or not she’s always there looking after me and that’s why I just hope anybody from someone that wants to come in just fire in the door the evil Gem and I’ll be there to give you that warm welcome and saw Adam stolen such a small community and uh a lot of sorry people behind me I’m really happy everybody showed up so barbecue and beers at my house now [Music] I’m just having a barbecue just to celebrate this amazing accomplishment it’s unbelievable we’re all so proud of them like you can see there’s so many people here that support them and summer has no idea what’s going on and I’d read the day she gets a boyfriend the guy that runs the company and owns the company is from Scotland it’s about hit him up for that sponsorship best comeback ever on but for that to be my big brother of course I’m going to be proud to I mean I’m gonna I’m gonna walk tall and tell everybody that’s my big breakfast of a Duncan I’ve eaten my fair share of food so I kind of complain now and then hopefully in the next couple of weeks I get some news of a fight come on first come first serve so when I got the offer for the USA debut I was lying in my bed at night my manager was a different time zone for myself so looked at my message because are you up question mark so then I knew for sure that’s what it was and so laying my bed after that looking at the ceiling couldn’t couldn’t sleep just absolutely buzzing that I got this this shot now and it’s finally came to fruition so I’m resting my Rob at wakeford so Robert Whiteford was the first UFC fighter signed from Scotland so it’s been an absolute privilege to train with him and me and him are gonna go at it you’ll see you’ll see it’s quite intense so I’m looking forward to it over the last 10 years I could count in one hand the many times he’s not turned up to dream with me and we’re still going today so he puts in the time so hard work always beats Talent all right [Applause] [Music] [Music] they’re both ah one more training hard for a fight try not be able to watch them through the the session try and let it unfold naturally and try and let him make the mistakes they’ve been making a fight and pick up in that and so he doesn’t make those mistakes in a fight train smart this guy’s limitful and hopefully one day we’ll have a squad champion [Music] [Music] fit oh excuse me the quarter standing stand Standing on the shoulders of giants so it means like yeah involve yourself with people I’ve been there and done it before you stand on their shoulders and you can see further I like that we rest with the first time in every spot I’m spotting the cage to me I broke my nose spot oh yeah stop to the one finish because I’m over like that before you’re not and take your family along for the riding make your daughter Pride I suppose a bit for sure for sure hi baby how are you sure died all your books come on who’s the elephant well done baby this UFC contract will not only change my life but change theirs in the sense that it’s going to be able to allow me to train without having to work but also allow Laura and somewhere to have time together because the UFC offered great financial support so I went out and bought a ring she’s told me not to but I couldn’t help myself it’s the girl I want to live the rest of my life with so I thought it would be very soon so I really wasn’t expecting it and then you just watched it out so it was a complete shock for me it’s lovely really nice look is that his contract you excited like Daddy one oh wow it’s just all in order now you mustn’t touch that that’s Daddy’s special stuff here it comes here it comes I’ll be fighting on the 18th of March in UFC London I’m finishing my camp in the US and an American top team 10 weeks of training before my UFC debut from there I can’t wait do you come and watch me fight we’ll get you some earmuffs make you look pretty you’re tired it’s hard what being so cute come here ready one sequels as well it takes a little bit of readjusting but we just understand that it’s going to be hard and you’ve got to just sacrifice things I’m ready to do the job and it’s difficult to to leave the family no no actually it does wake up I’m just going to go put another reborn back foreign it’s good I what time do you land I am half past eight this is my favorite of all in this one here yeah I love that one she said go away yesterday and that’s beginner yeah she’s getting there now the thing is I just need to video up no that’s perfect hey she said okay it’s all worthwhile on the end and out of anything you want in life you have to sacrifice something chicken how many bags [Music] thank you when I arrived at ATT first person I seen was Jorge mazdao I was absolutely Starstruck and I was just like Jesus I’m in these guys have been my idol since day one so being in the same gym as them has been absolutely amazing the coaches that I have at American top team just now are Mike Brown and Anderson together that’s very nice right away we knew this guy was a monster out of Scotland he’s the real deal man he’s one of those guys that I think is going to rise to the ranks of the UFC and be a real force and he he has all the tools and capability of that having the support from them is like second to none the dorms and American top team are right above the jump four so it’s very easy and accessible [Music] being in America so far away from my family is like it’s not like a bus travel back home it’s it’s 12 hours on a plane it’s very difficult it almost feels like prison my girlfriend my daughter’s toy and I’ve also got this as well for Father’s Day I’m very fortunate there’s only five hours difference so I do get to speak to them in the morning and at night time before they they go to bed you okay good thanks good where is she so I’m off hi baby can you say sorry [Laughter] bye baby all right guys love you guys see you soon bye getting out of the gym the beach is fantastic because get a little bit homesick at the end of camp I make the sacrifices just now but in the future I would love to get my green card whatever it takes to try and move myself and my family over to America to be laser beam focused to work my way out that ladder in the UFC I’m very excited from my debut it’s been a long time coming and 110 I’m going to be ready for whoever they put in front of me I’m here to knock people out and put on performances that’s all I’m built for
